Patrol Supervisor – Gatineau Park

ABOUT THE POSITION

Montagne Explore is an organization working in the field of emergency response and safety. In collaboration with Gatineau Park, managed by the National Capital Commission (NCC), we are looking for dynamic, autonomous individuals who are passionate about the outdoors to join our team as Patrol Supervisors.

This role is essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of visitors enjoying Gatineau Park’s extensive trail network, particularly during the winter season. The Patrol Supervisor is an ambassador for safety and information in the field.

YOUR ROLE

Under the supervision of the Montagne Explore Service Manager, the Patrol Supervisor will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Patrol the trail network (ski, snowshoe, winter biking, walking) to ensure user safety and compliance with park regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance work as needed.
  • Develop team work schedules to ensure optimal service coverage based on peak periods and operational needs.
  • Work in collaboration with other departments.
  • Apply, update, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate deployment of patrollers (professional and volunteer) in the field, assign patrol zones, and ensure each team member has the necessary equipment and instructions.
  • Ensure effective coordination between professional and volunteer patrollers.
  • Ensure measurements of snow depth on the trails are taken and communicate the information to the Visitor Centre.
  • Document operations and submit them to the Service Manager on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the quality of interventions.
  • Develop a continuous training plan for the patrol team.
  • Ensure daily that all equipment required for operations has been inspected.
  • Any other related duties.

YOUR PROFILE

Category Requirement
Languages Bilingualism in French and English is essential, verbally, in order to interact effectively with all visitors.
Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience as a winter trail patroller.
Education High school diploma. College diploma (DEC) or management training (an asset).
Key Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Leadership, autonomy, thoroughness, and professionalism.

In-depth knowledge of the Gatineau Park trail network.
Requirements Hold the security clearance required by the NCC.

20-hour wilderness and remote first aid training (provided by Montagne Explore on December 6–7, if needed).

Snowmobile operation training (provided by Montagne Explore if needed).

Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Specifics Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including weekends and holidays.

YOUR WORKING CONDITIONS

Position type: Seasonal / Full-time

Schedule: Variable coverage between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., every day from December 12, 2025 to March 31, 2026

Work location: Chelsea Complex, Gatineau Park

Compensation: between $22 and $25 per hour, depending on experience

Start date: December 8, 2025
